History of the Week This was the first major initiative of the association since its merger with ICMA in 1995. The CMSA Board of Directors agreed to a Case Management Week celebration during the week of October 10, 1999, a date chosen in honor of the Associations establishment on October 10, 1990.

CCM. The Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC) offers what many call the industry standard certification for caseworkers. The Case Manager Certification (CCM) is the longest-standing certification recognized by most organizations.

Later, it was decided to mark the second full week in October each year as National Case Management Week. As the idea quickly spread, other organizations also began to establish their own Case Management Week celebrations.

Clinical case managers communicate with patients health plans to secure reimbursement for the hospital services that patient receive. The Case Management process centers on individual patient needs and works to create holistic, patient centric plans.

This year, the American Case Management Association (ACMA), the Case Management Society of America (CMSA), and Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC) have joined to celebrate National Case Management Week with the theme and goal of Keeping the person at the heart of collaborative care.
