Create a team from scratch: Choose Teams. on the left side of the app, then select Join or create a team. Select. You will land on the From scratch dialog as the default experience. Decide what kind of team that you want this to be. Name your team and add an optional description. When youre done, select Create.

Sign in and get started with Teams Start Teams. In Windows, click Start. Microsoft Teams. On Mac, go to the Applications folder and click Microsoft Teams. On mobile, tap the Teams icon. Sign in with your Microsoft 365 username and password.

Create a team Select Create team to create a new team. Give the team a name and add a short description if you like. By default, your team is Private, meaning youll have to add the people or groups you want on the team. Select Public if you want anyone in the organization to be able to find and join the team.

After you create your group chat, learn more about the different features to get the most out of your chat. Open Microsoft Teams (free). Select the New Chat. Select Add group name. In the To: line, type the phone numbers, email addresses or names of those you want to include in this group.

In Microsoft Teams, you can show your desktop, a specific app, a whiteboard, or a presentation in a meeting. Select Share content. Select what you want to share: After you select what you want to show, a red border surrounds what youre sharing. Select Stop sharing to stop showing your screen.

It is possible that your organization has restricted the ability to create a new Team from scratch in Microsoft Teams for educational purposes. In this case, you may need to contact your organizations IT support team to confirm if this feature is available or if there are any restrictions in place.

Get a free version of Microsoft Teams (for work, school, or friends and family) Make sure you have a Microsoft account. Sign up for Microsoft Teams for free. Enter the email you use for your Microsoft account. Choose the version you want to get: Select Next and follow the prompts.

Select Join or create team Create a new team. Notes: If you dont see the Create a new team option, you may not have the necessary permissions to create your own teams. Check with your IT administrator who can either make a team for you or enable those permissions for you through the Microsoft 365 admin center.
