Hey Fletch I see that there are three types of Executive Pastors. There are those who are the solo XP for a church, an XP of Ministries and an XP of Operations.

Executive pastors handle the operational and administrative aspects of a church. They lead strategic planning, human resources, finance, recruitment, and all functional activities to ensure alignment with and accomplishment of the churchs mission and vision. They are second in command to senior pastors.

A good Pastor will really love and care for his flock. He will be there for each family. He will put his congratulations needs before his. He will pray for his congregation constantly.

In the executive pastor role, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the church and support the senior pastor in making decisions and determining the overall church direction. You will be expected to continually cultivate your relationship with God and increase your spiritual maturity.

They have a strong understanding of the Senior Pastors vision, the temperature of the congregation, and the pace at which changes need to occur. They dont tarry on important decisions, but they dont rush them either. They plan well for the future and are able to anticipate successes, problems, and delays.

The XPs are strong Catalysts and Overseers. The Catalyst function stirs up ministries and instills a church ethos. As an Overseer, the XP leads the church to be in alignment with the vision of the governing board and Senior Pastor. Church Administrators have minimal, if any, Catalyst and Overseer roles.
