Make a custom one pager for SharePoint administrators

You as a site member with edit permissions can add pages. If you are a site member but you are unable to add a page, your administrator may have turned off the ability to do so. This article applies to modern pages in SharePoint in Microsoft 365 , SharePoint Server Subscription Edition , or SharePoint Server 2019 .

To create a display template Open the Display Templates folder, and then open the Content Web Parts folder. Copy the HTML file for a display template that is similar to what you want to create. For a list of the default display templates and their descriptions, see Display template reference in SharePoint.

An alternative way to create a template is to go to a published page you want to use as the basis for your template, click the Promote button, and then click Save as page template.

For help, see Where to sign into Microsoft 365 for business. and then select the SharePoint tile. If you donʼt see the SharePoint tile, click the Sites tile or All if SharePoint is not visible. At the top of the SharePoint home page, click + Create site and choose the Communication site option.

You can change a pageʼs Page Layout after you have logged in and are editing the page (click the Edit icon or click on the Site Actions dropdown menu and select Edit Page). In the ribbon, click on the Page tab and click the Page Layout dropdown. Select the layout you want and wait for the page to refresh.

Use a theme to change the colors of your SharePoint site Select Change the look Theme. Select the look you want. Youʼll see a preview of what your site looks like with the selected theme applied. Choose a company theme with approved branding for your company, or use one of the classic experience designs.

Create a page layout In Design Manager, in the left navigation pane, choose Edit Page Layouts. Choose Create a page layout. In the Create a Page Layout dialog box, enter a name for your page layout. Select a master page. Select a content type. Choose OK.

Add a page Open the site that you want to add a page to. Select New. Select Page. Select a template, then select Create page. Type a name of your page, then add any other content you want. Use web parts to add text, images, and other content. Select Publish when youʼre ready.
