Is organic farming a profitable business? Yes, organic farming can make good money because more people want food thatʼs grown without chemicals. Organic products often sell for higher prices, and there are government programs that help farmers start and maintain organic farms.

The Real Organic Project was started by farmers to protect the meaning of organic. We grow food in the soil, not hydroponically. We raise livestock on pasture, not in confinement. In this time of concern about the erosion of integrity in the USDA, Real Organic remains exactly what organic was always intended to be.

The Real Organic Project requires cows to be raised on pasture. The USDA allows confinement dairy operations to be certified organic. The Real Organic Project requires chickens to be raised on pasture. The USDA certifies eggs from chickens who have never been outside.

Organic certification is a stringent process that requires producers and processors to adhere to a strict set of standards that go above and beyond all of the applicable food safety laws. These include: use of land that has been free of synthetic chemicals and fertilizers for at least 3 years.

Every year, we gather in La Crosse, WI, for the annual Marbleseed (formerly MOSES) Organic Farming Conference.

Products labeled as 100% organic must contain only organically produced ingredients and processing aids, excluding water and salt. No other ingredients or additives are permitted. Products labeled organic must contain at least 95% organically produced ingredients (excluding water and salt).

Organic is a label that indicates that a food or agricultural product has been produced ing to the USDA organic standards, which require operations to use practices that cycle resources, conserve biodiversity, and preserve ecological balance.

While organic farming in India for self-consumption requires no certification, starting an organic farming business does. You can apply for your organic farming certification at any testing centre accredited by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA).
