A. Initiation of strike pay occurs on the 15th day of a strike, in the amount of $100.00/week from District 6. On the 22nd day of a strike you will receive the $100.00/week from District 6 and an additional $200.00/week from the International, for a total of $300.00/week.

In terms of pension, the Steelworkers Pension Trust (SPT) is a multi-employer pension plan that has its roots in the former Upholsters International Union (UIU), a union that merged with the Steelworkers in 1985. Although the SPT maintains its own staff and offices, it is affiliated with the USW.

The UNITED STEEL WORKERS OF AMERICA in Cleveland has its roots in the 1870s with the formation of local branches of the Amalgamated Assn. of Iron, Steel Tin Workers beginning ca. 1877. The amalgamated was involved in the CLEVELAND ROLLING MILL STRIKES of 1882 and 1885 and remained active locally until 1892.
