The only way is to keep it a secret. Recipes are not copyrightable. You can never sue somebody for stealing or replicating it.

Recommend products you love and use affiliate links to earn a commission on sales made through your blog. This can include kitchen tools, ingredients, or food-related services.

You violate copyright law if you publish the recipes without a license to do so from each copyright owner (except for those recipes that are in the public domain---but you should assume that none of the recipes that you find on the internet are in the public domain).

It may or may not be a registered copyright but by its very creation, it is automatically protected. So yes, recipes from cookbooks have copyright protection. Sharing with anyone is technically copyright infringement unless you are the original creator. The copyright belongs to that person.

The question raises questions of copyright and patent law. Even if a recipe is copyrighted, you are free to sell the product. If, however, there is some patent protection on the recipe, there may be an issue. However, this is unlikely as recipes are quite difficult to protect with patents.

Generally speaking, recipes themselves arenʼt eligible for copyright protection because they are not considered to be a substantial literary expression. However, any accompanying photographs or illustrations, or descriptive headnotes (eg, about the origins of the dish) could be eligible for copyright protection.
