Make your index page designed for Linux

This is an alphabetical index of UNIX-GNU/Linux user commands that are discussed in the Modules. Commands that require root priveleges are not included. The links are to the section of the html version of the Module in which the command is first discussed in any sort of meaningful way.

Default Homepage The index. html page is the most common name used for the default page shown on a website if no other page is specified when a visitor requests the site. In other words, index. html is the name used for the homepage of the website.

The index() function is identical to strchr() Search for character. Note: The index() function has been moved to the Legacy Option group in Single UNIX Specification, Version 3 and may be withdrawn in a future version. The strchr() function is preferred for portability.

Indexes are primarily used to enhance database performance (though inappropriate use can result in slower performance). The key field(s) for the index are specified as column names, or alternatively as expressions written in parentheses. Multiple fields can be specified if the index method supports multicolumn indexes.

Index number of the sudoers file in the /etc directory (LINUX FUNDAMENTALS) So the index number, or inode, is a number that is unique to a file in the Unix filesystem. It is an identifying number the OS will use when storing and retrieving the data.

All you need is a text editor which is included in all operating systems. Alternative editors are available for free including some specifically designed for creating html. Creating sites in native html also gives you the most control over your site, but it can involve a huge amount of work when creating big sites.

Editing HTML Codes Open your text editor. Create a new blank file named index. html and save it to a directory you can find later. Copy and paste the basic HTML structure code above to the file, then save your changes.

In Linux, we can use the locate command to quickly find files by using the filename. The command scans the available database or databases for matches and displays the results. The updatebd command builds the databases.
